1

Before You Start

Make sure you have everything ready before beginning calibration. This only takes a few minutes when you're prepared.

⚠️
Important: Always connect the load bar cables to the indicator before you power on. If you power on first, the display may not read zero — press and hold ZERO for 2 seconds to fix this.

What you need:

Item Why
AGU9i Indicator (charged or plugged in) Battery lasts ~13 hours; charge with the included 12V adapter
Load bars connected and in position Cables plug into the two outer ports on the bottom of the indicator
Known test weight(s) You'll need a weight with a known value to calibrate against
Stable, level surface for load bars Uneven ground causes inaccurate readings
💡
Tip: After plugging in load bar cables, align the protrusion on the plug with the groove in the socket, push in, then rotate clockwise to lock. When disconnecting, hold the back plug — never pull on the blue wire.

Know Your Buttons

The AGU9i has seven buttons along the front. Here's what each one does during calibration:

Button Label What It Does
ON Green power Powers on (hold ZERO first for calibration mode)
OFF Red power Powers off / exits current menu
REC Print / Date Records weight; long-press to set the clock
ENTER Menu Confirms selection, moves to next setting
M+ → Shift Moves cursor to next digit when editing
ANI ↑ Animal / Up Increases value or scrolls up
ZERO ↓ Zero / Down Decreases value, scrolls down, or re-zeros
ℹ️
Display indicators: During calibration you'll see CAL lit on screen. The ZERO light means the scale is at zero. The Stable arrow (▼) means the reading is steady.
3

Enter Calibration Mode

This is the same first step for all calibration tasks — parameters, full calibration, and zero calibration all begin here.

1
With the indicator OFF, press and hold the ZERO button.
2
While still holding ZERO, press the ON button.
3
The display counts through numbers (000000 to 999999), then shows 0.
4
The screen briefly shows the version number (e.g. UE-2.01), then settles to zero.

You are now in calibration mode with access to parameter settings and weighing calibration.

💡
Shortcut: Press ENTER during the count to skip the self-test. The display will flash ------ and then show 0.
4

Set Parameters (If Needed)

After entering calibration mode, press ENTER to see CAL SP. Press ENTER again → -SEt- → ENTER once more to enter parameters.

ℹ️
Most operators can skip this section. Parameters are set at the factory. Only change them if setting up a new scale or instructed by a technician.

Key parameters:

Setting What It Controls Default
dd Single or double interval: n = single, y = double n
d Smallest weight increment (e.g. 0.1, 0.2, 0.5, 1, 2, 5 kg) 0.01
FS Maximum weight your scale can read 150.00
FLt Stability filter: 0 = fast/jumpy, 2 = slow/stable 2
Unit Weight unit: kg, lb, g, ton, oz kg
G Local gravity acceleration 9.7940

To change any value: M+ → to move between digits, ANI ↑ or ZERO ↓ to adjust. ENTER to confirm.

⚠️
FLt tip for livestock: Set FLt = 2 for livestock weighing. Gives much more stable readings when animals are moving.
5

Full Weighing Calibration

This is the main calibration. You'll set what zero looks like (empty scale) and what a known weight looks like.

⚠️
Make sure the scale platform is completely empty before starting. Any weight during zero calibration will cause all future readings to be wrong.
1
Enter calibration mode (hold ZERO, press ON — see Section 3).
2
Press ENTER. Display shows CAL SP.
3
Press M+ → to enter zero calibration. Display shows CAL 00.
4
The indicator is reading the empty scale. Keep it completely clear.
5
Press ENTER to confirm zero. Display shows CAL FS.
6
Place your known test weight on the scale.
7
Press M+ → to see the weight value. Use M+, ANI ↑ / ZERO ↓ to enter the actual weight value.
8
Press ENTER to confirm. Display shows ------.
9
Wait a few seconds. When complete, it will display the weight value.
✅
Calibration is complete! The scale returns to normal weighing mode.
💡
Best practice: Remove the test weight and confirm the display returns to 0.0. Then place it back to verify. If off, repeat the process.
6

Half-Range Correction

Fine-tune accuracy at a specific weight point (usually the midpoint). Useful if animals you weigh are typically within a certain range.

1
From CAL SP, press ANI ↑ instead of M+.
2
Display shows CAL HS — half-range correction mode.
3
Press M+ →. Display shows the half-range value (e.g. 75.00).
4
Place your half-range test weight. Edit the value if needed using M+, ANI, ZERO.
5
Press ENTER to confirm. Wait for ------ to resolve.
✅
Half-range correction complete.
7

Individual Zero Calibration

Do this if you've just replaced load bars or the platform. Resets "zero" without full recalibration.

⚠️
Ensure the scale platform is completely empty and stable before performing zero calibration.
1
Enter calibration mode (hold ZERO + press ON).
2
Press ENTER → display shows CAL SP.
3
Press ANI ↑ to navigate to CAL HS.
4
Press M+ →. Enter the weight value if needed, then press ENTER.
5
Display shows ------, then the corrected value.
✅
Zero calibration complete.
8

First-Time Setup (Daily Use Settings)

After calibration, set up the indicator for daily weighing — animal type and batch number.

Choose Your Animal Type

In normal weighing mode, press ANI. Display shows Fn S. Use ANI ↑ or ZERO ↓ to scroll:

Code Animal Type Avg Time
S Sheep / small-medium animals ~3 sec
C Cattle / large animals ~5 sec
g Group weighing ~7 sec
U User custom (0–9 sec) You choose
n Non-animal (static weighing) Instant

Press ENTER to confirm. Set a batch number (e.g. S 001A). Then set L (low limit) and H (high limit) for the check-weigh alarm, or set L=000000 and H=900000 to disable.

💡
Switching units: Long-press ANI for ~3 seconds to switch between kg and lb.

Setting the Clock

Long-press REC until you hear a beep. Use M+ to shift digits, ANI ↑ / ZERO ↓ to change values. Press ENTER to save.

9

Daily Weighing Checklist

1
Connect load bar cables to the indicator (both outer ports).
2
Press ON. Wait for self-test. Display should read 0.0.
3
Check zero. If not 0.0 with empty platform, hold ZERO for 2+ seconds.
4
Press ANI to select animal type. It remembers last settings.
5
Same batch? Press M+ →. New batch? Set a new number.
6
Start weighing! Weight locks automatically when the animal settles (Stable arrow lights up).
7
Re-weigh: Press ANI 5 times quickly, or long-press ANI.
8
When done, press OFF. Cover all port caps tightly.
⚠️
Battery: When the battery icon flashes, charge before your next session. Full charge = ~13 hours of use.

Troubleshooting

Problem What to Do
Display doesn't show 0.0 Check cables. Hold ZERO 2+ seconds. If it persists, recalibrate (Section 5).
Wrong weight readings Test with known weight. If off, do full calibration (Section 5). Check level.
Jumpy / unstable readings Increase FLt to 2 (Section 4). Check platform is on firm, level ground.
Can't enter calibration mode Hold ZERO before pressing ON. Must be fully off first. Check JP1 jumper is on EN side.
Random characters on display Turn off, wait 5 seconds, turn back on. Try factory reset if it continues.
Battery draining fast Turn off between sessions. Battery is 6V 4AH. Contact AgriEID if life drops.
Animal weight not locking Check animal type (S/C/g/U). Cattle mode takes ~5 sec. Try Group mode for active animals.
ℹ️
Factory Reset: Enter calibration mode, press ENTER until you see FACt, then press M+. Defaults: 150.00 kg, interval 0.01, filter 2, unit kg. You'll need to recalibrate after.
